Through these relationships a deeper step can be taken as well. By entering a relationship of accountability with another minister or trusted friend, the minister can protect himself or herself against the temptation to be self-serving. Typically, such a relationship is most effective when it is with another minister. Few people outside of the life of ministry can truly understand the temptations to pride that a minister will face.
